Clarkson Opens Up About Unexpected Mounjaro Complication – How Did the Weight Loss Drug Wreck His Health?

Jeremy Clarkson Shares Humiliating ‘Mounjaro Problem’ He ‘Never Saw Coming’

Jeremy Clarkson reveals unexpected side effect of Mounjaro

Jeremy Clarkson may be enjoying the benefits of his dramatic weight loss—but even the famously confident presenter wasn’t prepared for the embarrassment that came with his latest airport experience. The Clarkson’s Farm and former Top Gear star, 65, revealed that his new, slimmer physique—thanks to the popular weight loss jab Mounjaro—recently left him in a rather awkward situation that he “never saw coming.”

In his trademark dry wit, Clarkson took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his ordeal, writing:

“Mounjaro problem I never saw coming. At airports, you’re made to remove your belt and then told to stand in the body scanner with your arms in the air; so you can’t hold your trousers up.”

For most people, airport security checks are a mild inconvenience. For Jeremy Clarkson—known for his sharp suits and blustery self-assurance—it became a moment of pure humiliation. The incident, which unfolded while he was jetting off for a long-awaited holiday, prompted a wave of laughter and sympathy from fans online, with many teasing him about his “new slimline problem.”

One follower playfully replied, “As a farmer, you should know string or rope is an essential staple of a gentleman’s attire.” Another chimed in with: “Try dungarees, Jeremy. They’ll make you look even more like a countryside icon.” Others simply found the image of Clarkson trying to hold up his trousers in an airport scanner too funny to ignore.

Still, not everyone was amused. Some fans expressed genuine concern about Clarkson’s reliance on weight loss injections—especially given his recent health scares. “You shouldn’t be taking that if you’ve had a heart issue, Jeremy,” one commenter warned. “Double-check with a consultant.” Another user added, “Watch out with those jabs. After five months on them, I realised I was losing muscle and strength, not the belly fat I wanted. Use with care.”

A Health Scare That Changed Everything

Clarkson’s weight loss journey began after a serious health scare last year. The outspoken television personality, who lives at his 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, was admitted to hospital with chest pains and later underwent heart surgery. The experience served as a wake-up call.

Determined to improve his health, Clarkson decided to overhaul his lifestyle, diet, and exercise habits. Initially, he tried another popular weight-loss medication—Ozempic—but said it made him feel “sick a lot.” So, he switched to Mounjaro, a newer alternative that helps regulate appetite and blood sugar.

The results were dramatic. Clarkson says he’s shed around two stone and now has a noticeably smaller appetite. “I no longer want to eat my own body weight in chocolate and beef,” he quipped in a recent interview, crediting Mounjaro for curbing his cravings.

But as his airport debacle revealed, losing weight has brought unexpected challenges. While Mounjaro has become a buzzword among celebrities and influencers looking for quick results, doctors continue to warn that the medication—originally designed for type 2 diabetes—can have side effects ranging from nausea to muscle loss if not properly monitored.

Clarkson himself admits the journey hasn’t been entirely smooth. “There’s always a catch,” he told fans, though he maintains that the jab has given him a new lease on life after years of overindulgence and health issues.

From Motors to Manure—and Now Mounjaro

Jeremy Clarkson’s transformation over the past few years has been nothing short of remarkable. Once known primarily for roaring engines, controversial opinions, and long drives across deserts, he has reinvented himself as Britain’s most famous farmer.

Since Clarkson’s Farm first aired on Amazon Prime in 2021, viewers have watched him battle weather, bureaucracy, and livestock in his attempt to turn his Oxfordshire estate, Diddly Squat Farm, into a functioning business. The series—equal parts comedy and documentary—has turned him from a motoring icon into an unlikely agricultural hero.

Now in its fourth season, Clarkson’s Farm continues to draw massive audiences, partly because of Clarkson’s authentic passion for rural life and partly because of his willingness to laugh at his own misfortune. Whether it’s his cows escaping, his crops failing, or his trousers falling down in an airport, Clarkson seems to have embraced the chaos that comes with aging, health scares, and newfound humility.

Richard Osman’s Jab at Clarkson

But not all of Clarkson’s recent headlines have revolved around his health—or his waistline. His new book, Diddly Squat: The Farmer’s Dog, has also stirred up friendly competition in the publishing world. Released this week, the book is the latest installment in his bestselling Diddly Squat series, chronicling his life on the farm with the same humour and candour that made his TV show a hit.

However, author and television presenter Richard Osman couldn’t resist taking a lighthearted swipe at Clarkson on his podcast, The Rest Is Entertainment. Osman joked that releasing the book close to Christmas was “the coward’s way” of chasing a holiday bestseller.

“Clarkson is bringing out another Diddly Squat and is bringing it out quite close to Christmas, which is the coward’s way of bringing out a book,” Osman said. “It gives you more chance of being a Christmas number one. If he had any guts at all, if he was any sort of man, he’d release it earlier.”

Clarkson has yet to respond publicly, though Osman admitted that he doesn’t think he’ll clinch the Christmas crown himself. Instead, he predicts that Charlie Mackesy—author of the beloved The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse—will once again dominate holiday book charts with his latest release, Always Remember.

A Season of Change

Between his ongoing farming adventures, his best-selling books, and his weight-loss revelations, Jeremy Clarkson’s life appears to be in a period of transformation. Once famous for bravado and bluster, the 65-year-old has shown more vulnerability and humour than ever before—whether he’s facing down bureaucrats, book rivals, or airport body scanners.

For a man who’s spent decades speeding through life at full throttle, Clarkson’s “Mounjaro problem” may be a small but humbling reminder that even when you lose weight, you can’t lose life’s little ironies.

And true to form, he’s turned even that into entertainment.

At least next time he flies, he’ll know to pack an extra belt—or perhaps, as one fan suggested, “a piece of farm rope—just in case.”
